Baseball Shuts Out Bridgeport, 8-0

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi baseball team got a complete game shutout from pitcher Chris Palladino (East Meadow, N.Y.) and scored eight runs to close out the regular season with an 8-0 conference win. With the win Adelphi improves to 22-15 overall and 13-7 in the NYCAC, while Bridgeport falls to 10-16 overall and 7-11 in conference action.

Adelphi got on the board in the top of the third when Tom Cali (Shirley, N.Y.) drove in Henry Daverin (Levittown, N.Y.), giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead. In the top of the fourth Adelphi exploded for six runs on six hits to push their lead to 7-0. Matt DeWitt (North Bellmore, N.Y.), Ricky Nicholson (Massapequa, N.Y.), Doug Anderson (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and Brian Rath (Wantagh, N.Y.) drove in a run apiece, while Daverin smacked a two-run single.

The Panthers tacked on another run in the top of the eighth, while Palladino cruised through nine innings, giving up just six hits, walking four and striking out three to pick up his fourth win of the season.

Adelphi has already clinched a spot in the NYCAC playoffs but must wait to find out their seed and opponent.
