Women's Lacrosse Tops AIC, 14-4

Garden City, N.Y. - Senior Katherine Hock (Mineola, N.Y.) tallied four goals and an assist to lead the #4 Adelphi University women's lacrosse team to a 14-4 victory over American International College on Thursday afternoon at Stiles Field. The Panthers improve to 7-1 while the Yellow Jackets drop to 1-2.

Junior Dawn Anselmin (Lynbrook, N.Y.) scored the first of her two goals in the second minute to spur a 10-0 Adelphi run. Sophomore Diana Lopez (Farmingville, N.Y.) collected both of her goals in the first half as well. The Yellow Jackets got on board in the 28th minute as freshman Caitlin Mooney (Wilbraham, Mass.) notched an unassisted goal. Adelphi led 10-1 at the half.

Hock picked up her fourth goal thirty seconds into the second half. Less than a minute later sophomore Lauren Lopez (Farmingville, N.Y.) chipped in her second goal on a feed from Hock to extend Adelphi's lead to 12-1. AIC scored for the second time in the 44th minute before Janet Sica (Floral Park, N.Y.) and Jayna Kyriacou (West Hempstead, N.Y.) rattled off the remaining two Adelphi goals. The Yellow Jackets had a late surge as Mooney increased her total to three goals. The Panthers held on for the 14-4 victory.

Adelphi returns to action on Sunday, April 10, hosting Regis University at 12 noon.
