The Adelphi baseball collected 16 hits and scored five late runs to pick-up an 8-4 road win over Dominican College. With the win Adelphi improves to 19-15 overall, while Dominican drops to 18-17.
Adelphi scored two runs in the first inning on singles by Tom Sicari (Westbury, N.Y.) and Matt DeWitt (North Bellmore, N.Y.) to take a 2-0 lead. Dominican answered back, scoring one run in the bottom of the first and the bottom of the second to tie the game at two.
In the top of the fourth the Panthers broke the tie when Tom Cali (Shirley, N.Y.) grounded out, scoring Bryan Horrmann (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) to make the score 3-2. Adelphi then put the game out of reach, scoring three runs in the top of the seventh and adding two in the top of the eighth.
Dominican got one run back in the bottom of the seventh and eighth but it was not enough as Adelphi claimed the win, 8-4. Adam Kipling (Smithtown, N.Y.) was credited with the win.
Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, April 27 when they play host to visiting Dowling College at 3:30 pm.
