The #4 ranked Adelphi University women's lacrosse team defeated Saint Anselm 19-0 in a non-conference game on Saturday. The Panthers improve to 11-1 while the Greyhounds fall to 3-7 on the season.
The Panthers took a 2-0 lead at the 16:51 mark of the first half and then rattled off seven goals in the next seven minutes before taking an 11-0 lead into halftime. Sophomore Lauren Lopez (Farmingville, N.Y./ Sachem) scored the first three goals of the day for Adelphi and would later add an assist. Senior Katherine Hock (Mineola, N.Y.) scored five of her game-high six goals in the first half to go along with one assist. Sophomore Meghan Blume (Bel Air, Md) added two goals and three assists in the win.
Adelphi freshman goalie Grace Monjardo (Rocky Point, N.Y.) made five of her six saves in the second half to preserve the shutout. Lauren Barber (Andover, Mass./ Andover) finished the game with nine saves for the Hawks.
Adelphi returns home to host the first of two games at Stiles Field, beginning with Bently College on Sunday, May 1, at 12:00 p.m.
