Caldwell Field. The Panthers, who won the first game 2-0 before falling in the second game, 5-1, are now 19-11 on the season. The Cougars, who are ranked first in the latest Northeast Region, are 23-6.
In the first game, Adelphi scored both of its runs in the first inning.
Freshman Julia Schaper led off with a single, then senior Theresa Kotulak and junior Amy Delmore followed with RBI doubles off Caldwell starter Jessica Saunders. Saunders allowed just three hits

shutout, allowing five hits and three walks while striking out six.

effort. The loss ended Caldwell's winning streak at 13 games.

with four runs in the bottom of the first. Freshman Alyssa Speno led off with a triple, then scored on a single
by junior Katie Jackson. Sophomore Jackie
Velardi and freshman Nicole Bodrog had two-out RBI singles, followed by a double from junior Gina D'Amico that plated Bodrog
and gave the Cougars a 4-1 lead. D'Amico also homered in the sixth
inning, her first of the season, to complete the scoring.
Freshman Kristen de la Campa remained
unbeaten (6-0) after allowing six hits and one run in four innings of
work to earn the decision. Sophomore Anna Dahl pitched three shutout innings to record her second save of the
