The Adelphi University women's lacrosse team exploded for seven goals in the first ten minutes of the second half to run away from the University of New Haven Chargers, 18-1, on Saturday. With the win, the Panthers improve their record to 9-1. The Chargers fall to 5-5 on the season.
Senior Katherine Hock (Mineola, N.Y.) led the way for the Panthers, netting a career high nine goals. Sophomore Lauren Lopez (Farmingville, N.Y.) added five goals and an assist, while sister Diane added two goals and four assists for Adelphi. Freshman goalie Grace Monjardo (Rocky Point, N.Y.) made five saves for the Panthers.
New Haven came into the game with only 12 healthy players. Heather Miles scored the Chargers only goal, off an assist from Maureen Wark.
With nine goals, Hock breaks her own record of eight goals which she set on April 19, 2004 against Philadelphia University. Hock is just four goals away from reaching her 200th career goal.
Adelphi returns to action on Thursday, April 21, hosting Philadelphia University at 4:00 pm at Stiles Field.
