The Adelphi baseball team traveled to Flushing, New York on April 14 to take on Queens College in a non-conference match-up. Roger Mischel (Whitestone, N.Y.) scattered five hits and gave up just two runs to pitch Adelphi to an 8-2 win. With the win Adelphi evens their overall record at 13-13, while Queens falls to 4-12-1.
The Panthers got on the board early, scoring two runs on a Nick Testani (Williston Park, N.Y.) double to take a 2-0 lead. Adelphi tacked on three more runs in the top of fourth. Ralph Tropiano (Staten Island, N.Y.) walked in a run, then James Conklin (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) singled in two more runs to put Adelphi ahead 5-0.
That was more then Mischel would need as he cruised through eight innings without incident. Queens scored two runs in the ninth on two doubles and a single before Mischel settled down to strike out the last batter to finish off the complete game. Mischel struck out 12 batters in the game to collect his second win of the season.
Adelphi returns to action on Friday, April 15 when they play host to New Haven in a 3:30 pm conference match-up.
