Box Score
Kutztown, PA -
The Adelphi men's baseball team gave up four runs in the first two innings of action and could not capitalize on five Golden Bear errors, falling 4-1 to Kutztown. With the loss Adelphi falls to 5-8 overall, while Kutztown improves to 17-7 on the season.
The Golden bears used two infield singles and a sacrifice to get on the board in the first inning, 2-0. A throwing error by junior Henry Daverin (Levittown, N.Y.) and another sacrifice fly gave Kutztown a 4-0 lead after just two innings of play.
The Panthers threatened in the fifth when Bryan Horrmann (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) got on base with a single and then Michael Aliperti (East Setauket, N.Y.) reached base on an error. Thomas Cali (Shirley, N.Y.) reached base on another Golden Bear error that also brought home Horrmann, but Cali made the final out of the inning on the very next play to end the Panther threat.
Chris Palladino (East Meadow, N.Y.) gave up three earned runs and five hits in five innings of work, while Roger Mischel (Whitestone, N.Y.), Chris Widmer (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Mike Thompson (Bethpage, N.Y.) combined to hold Kutztown scoreless over the final four innings.
Horrmann was the only bright spot at the plate for Adelphi, going 2-3 with a run scored.
The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, March 23 when they travel to Rockville Center for a NYCAC game against Molloy at 3:00 pm.
