The Adelphi men's baseball team scored four runs in the first two innings of action and picked up 13 hits in the game to collect a 9-2 conference win over Concordia. With the win Adelphi improves to 5-7 overall and 2-1 in NYCAC action, while Concordia falls to 5-14 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
The Panthers got on the board early, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Thomas Cali (Shirley, N.Y.) scored on an error. Adelphi tacked on three more runs in the second inning on four hits to take a commanding 4-0 lead.
Starter Rinaldo Fable (Franklin Square, N.Y.) held the Clippers to just two runs through six innings of work, including registering four strikeouts. Nick Lio (Massapequa, N.Y.) pitched three innings of scoreless relief to put the game away.
Cali led the way, going 3-4 from the plate with a double. Brian Rath (Wantagh, N.Y.) went 2-4 with two RBI, while teammate Matt DeWitt (North Bellmore, N.Y.) hit 1-3 with two RBI.
Adelphi returns to action on Tuesday, March 22 when they travel to Kutztown, Pennsylvania for a 3:30 pm meeting with the Golden Bears.
