Senior Katherine Hock (Mineola, N.Y.) tallied five goals and two assists en route to her 200th career point to lead the No. 1 ranked Adelphi University women's lacrosse team to a 20-1 victory over Assumption College. The Panthers improve to 4-0, while the Greyhounds drop to 2-1.
Junior Dawn Anselmin (Lynbrook, N.Y.) had a solid game, registering three goals and three assists. Sophomore Lauren Lopez (Farmingville, N.Y.) and junior Jessica Marra (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) each chipped in three goals and an assist.
Adelphi held a commanding 13-0 lead at the end of the first half. The Panthers defense was stifling, allowing the Greyhounds to take just three shots in the first thirty minutes of play.
Senior Lauren Swiatek (Quaker Hill, CT) kept Adelphi from recording the shutout, scoring the lone Assumption goal in the 45th minute, 16-1. Sophomore Meghan Blume (Bel Air, MD) notched her second goal in the 48th minute to put the Panthers back on track, 17-1. Adelphi would score three more times in the closing minutes for a convincing 20-1 win.
Sophomore Allyson Murphy recorded three saves in 40:04 minutes in goal. Freshman Grace Monjardo (Rocky Point, N.Y.) played the remaining 19:56 minutes for two stops and one goal against. Senior Marjorie Schepp (Middleton, N.J.) had three saves for Assumption.
Hock collected her 200th career point with her second goal in the seventh minute of the first half on an assist from sophomore Diana Lopez (Farmingville, N.Y.). Already Adelphi's all-time leading scorer, Hock becomes the first player to reach the 200th point plateau. Her career total stands at 204 and counting.
The Panthers are back in action on Wednesday, March 23, hosting the University of New Haven at 3:30 p.m.
