Adelphi Rolls Past Molly, 74-57

Rockville Center, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's basketball team remained hot, out rebounding Molly 40-27 and holding the Lions to just 36 percent shooting for the game to win their 13th game in a row, 74-57. With the win Adelphi improves to 18-3 overall and 17-1 in conference action, while Molly falls to 7-14 on the season and 6-12 in the NYCAC.

Adelphi and Molloy traded baskets early, but the Panthers took control at the 16:58 mark when Kimani Blaize (Brooklyn, N.Y.) hit a three-point bucket to put Adelphi up 8-6. Over the next eight and a half minutes the Panthers would outscore Molloy 14-9 to claim a seven point lead, 22-15 with 9:38 to play.

The Panthers pushed the lead to as many as 14 points with 2:06 to play in the first and would enter the locker room with a 12 point bulge, 37-25.

The second half was more of the same, as Adelphi pulled away and took their largest lead of the game, 47-30 with 14:19 remaining in the game. Molloy would make a run and cut the lead to eight, but that was as close as they would get, falling 74-57.

Junior Eric Martin led the way for Adelphi with 18 points and six rebounds. Blaize chipped in 13 points, while teammate Mike Mosby (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) contributed 11 points and three rebounds.

Michael Mooney was the only Molloy player in double-figures, scoring 18 points on 7-9 shooting from the field. Robert Mostacci added nine points.

Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday February 9th when they play host to visiting Queens College at 7:30 pm in Woodruff Hall.
