Men's Basketball Holds Off Molloy, 74-67

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - Adelphi placed six players in double-figures and forced 23 turnovers to pick up a 74-67 conference win at Molloy. With the win the Panthers open their conference schedule with a record of 1-0 and improve to 3-2 overall, while the Lions remain winless at 0-6 overall and 0-1 in the NYCAC.

Adelphi and Molloy exchanged the lead four times before the Panthers finally took control using an 8-0 run to take a 21-15 lead with 12:06 remaining in the first half. Adelphi controlled the action for most of the first half, but could not extend their advantage any further than four points.

With 5:11 left in the half Molloy claimed their first lead since the 14:32 mark on a made jumper by Vincent Falzone (Middle Village, N.Y.). The Lions were ahead by two with just one second left on the clock, but would enter the half down one after Ben Kenyon (Union, N.J.) completed a traditional three-point play, giving Adelphi a 39-38 edge at the half.

Both teams traded leads again to open the second half and Adelphi again asserted themselves, moving out to an eight point lead, 56-48 with 13:01 to play. The Panthers extended their lead to 12, 62-50, on two made free throws by Mike Mosby (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) with 8:09 left in the game.

Molloy cut the Adelphi lead to just five on two occasions before ultimately falling by seven, 74-67.

Mark Pierre (St. Georges, Grenada) led Molloy with a double-double, scoring 16 points and pulling down 10 boards. Glenn Martin (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was the only other Lion in double figures with 16 points.

Kenyon led six Panthers in double figures with 13 points, Aaron Cummings (Bay Shore, N.Y.) chipped in 10 points and a game-high six assists. Both Kimani Blaize (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Jamaal Wagner (Jamaica, N.Y.) added 12 points, while Samuel Jenkins (Brooklyn, N.Y.) contributed 11 and Mosby pitched in with 10 points and six rebounds.

Adelphi returns to action Saturday, December 3 when they travel to Flushing, New York to take on NYCAC for Queens College.
