Volleyball Falls To C.W. Post, 3-2

Brookville, N.Y. - Adelphi rallied from two games down to tie the match at 2-2, but came up short in the fifth and final game, 15-10. With the loss the Panthers close out the regular season with an overall record of 13-16 and a conference mark of 3-6, while C.W. Post improves to 20-13 overall and 4-5 in NYCAC play.

Game one went to the limit, as neither team could take a clear advantage. The Pioneers took a late 29-28 lead, but a C.W. Post attacking error knotted the score at 29. Unfortunately the Panthers could not gain the momentum falling 34-32. In game two the Panthers found themselves with a 17-13 lead, but the Pioneers used a 10-3 run to take control of the game on their way to a 30-25 win.

Game three was all Adelphi as the Panthers raced out to an 11-2 edge and did not look back, claiming a 30-20 win. Game four was played tighter but the end result was the same, an Adelphi win, 30-23. In game five there were six ties, the last one coming at seven all. Then C.W. Post took control of the final game with a quick 3-1 run, to secure a 15-10 win.

Lauren Dunne led all players with 23 kills and had 12 digs, teammate Aisha Sealy had a game-high 44 assists.

Rachael Cornick (Endicott, N.Y.) notched her 15th double-double of the season with 16 kills and a game-high 19 digs. Meaghan Joyce (Massapequa, N.Y.) chipped in 12 kills and 10 digs, while Deanna Maggio (Island Park, N.Y.) had 39 assists.

Eighth seeded Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, November 5 when they face top-seeded Dowling in the first round of the NYCAC playoffs.
