The Adelphi women's soccer team hung five unanswered goals on visiting Concordia College in the first 15 minutes of action on their way to an 8-0 win. With the win the Panthers remain undefeated in the conference at 5-0 and rise to 6-2-1 overall, while Concordia is still searching for their first win of the season at 0-6 and 0-3 in the NYCAC.
The Panthers were unable to find the net in the first 10 minutes, sending a few attempts wide or high. In the 11th minute of action Senior Shannon McEntee (Valley Stream, N.Y.) found the back of the net, giving Adelphi a 1-0 lead. Less then a minute later fellow senior Lea Brady (Holbrook, N.Y.) got on the board off of a McEntee assist to push Adelphi's lead to 2-0.
McEntee scored her second goal of the game in the 13th minute, which was quickly followed by Adelphi's fourth goal just 45 seconds later on a Lauren Lopez (Farmingville, N.Y.) penalty kick. Freshmen Erin Klimkowski (Westbury, N.Y.), Melissa Fulgenzi (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and Lauren Slattery (Nashua, NH) also scored in the first half to give Adelphi a 7-0 bulge at the half.
Freshman Amanda Rodriguez (Oviedo, FL) scored Adelphi's final goal in the 84th minute of play, making the final score 8-0. The Panthers out shot Concordia 29-0 for the game, giving sophomore Christine Conway (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) the shutout.
Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, October 8 when travel to Mercy College for a noon showdown.
