Volleyball Sweeps At Tri-Match

Lakewood, N.J. - In a non-conference tri-match held at the Casino, Adelphi University swept its pair of games, leaving Georgian Court University a split at 1-1, and William Paterson empty at 0-2. The Panthers improved to 13-15 this season, snapping a three-game losing streak. GCU leveled to 12-13, while Paterson fell to 20-10.

After back-and-forth play through much of the first two games, Adelphi put an end to the 3-0 contest with a lop-sided 30-21 win in the third match. Adelphi won the first two frames, 30-22, and 30-25. The Panthers were topped by the junior duo of Rachael Cornick (Endicott, N.Y.) and Kelly Campbell (Hicksville, N.Y.), who notched 13 kills apiece. Cornick added a game-high 19 digs, while junior Deanna Maggio took home an afternoon-high six service aces. Paterson's Lauren Shears scored 14 kills in the losing effort.

Adelphi out-killed the Panthers 52-26, and scored 15 team service aces.

Adelphi made short work of the host Lions, scoring an impressive 3-0 win, 30-18, 30-14, and 30-21. Adelphi used a balanced effort, as no starter had more than six kills in the game. The team also landed seven blocks and six aces in the effort, while GCU finished with a total of 45 errors in the match. The win snapped a modest 2-game win streak for the Lions.

Adelphi returns to action on Tuesday, November 1, it its regular season finale at C.W. Post at 7:00 p.m.
