Garden City, N.Y. -
Sophomore Rob Philippou (Manhasset, N.Y.) tied the game at one in the 18th minute but the Panthers could not come all the way back, falling 3-1 to Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) rival Philadelphia University. With the loss the Panthers fall to 3-12-1 overall and 1-3 in the ASC, while Philadelphia improves to 4-10-1 and 1-1-1 in the conference.
The Rams got on the board first when Sherwin Forde (Pickering, Ontario) slipped past Adelphi goalkeeper Michael Hurley (Freeport, N.Y.) and slotted the ball into an empty net, giving Philadelphia a 1-0 lead. The Panthers answered back less then a minute later when Mike Wallover (Lancaster, PA) gave up a rebound, which was collected by Philippou, who found the back of the net.
Philadelphia took their second lead of the game when Mike Millar (Kearny, NJ) touched a dead ball to Devon Klipp (Pennsburg, PA), who beat Hurley from 25 yards out. The Rams put the game out of reach in the 73rd minute on Klipp's second goal. Forde broke through the Panther defense and found himself one-on-one with Hurley, then slid the ball to a streaking Klipp who found the back of the Panther net.
Wallover made seven saves in the win, while Hurley picked up two saves.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, October 29 when they host ASC opponent NJIT at 1:00 pm.
