Oct. 15, 2005

Box Score

Oneonta, N.Y. - Hartwick Freshman Austin McCann (Broken Arrow HS/Jenks, Okla.) came off the bench to score a pair of goals, lead Hartwick to a 2-0 win over Adelphi in an Atlantic Soccer Conference game at the At-A-Glance Field at the National Soccer Hall of Fame. With the loss the Panthers fall to 2-10-1 overall and 0-2 in ASC play, while Hartwick improves to 8-3-1 and 3-0 in conference action.

The game originally scheduled for Hartwick's Elmore Field, was moved due to this week's heavy rains that left Elmore unplayable.

McCann tallied the game's first goal in the 37th minute, after teammate Chris Greatwich (Drury Univ./Lewes, England) sent a long ball over the Adelphi defense. The ball skidded past Adelphi goalkeeper Rich Skoblicki (Patchogue-Medford/Patchogue, NY), who watched the ball as McCann ran on to the ball, sending it into the net.

McCann's second marker came in the 54th minute, as Tyler Hemming (Saunders Secondary/London, Ontario) played a long ball to McCann at the right side of the 18 yard box, where he found the back of the net, giving Hartwick a 2-0 edge.

Skoblicki collected three saves in the loss, while Josh Wagenaar picked up two saves and the shutout.

Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, October 19 when they travel to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for a 7:00 pm match-up with LeHigh.
