Volleyball Stopped by Mercy, 3-2

Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The Adelphi University volleyball team fell to Mercy College, 31-29, 33-31, 25-30, 15-30, 14-16, in conference action on Wednesday night. With the loss, the Panthers drop to 11-13 overall and 3-3 in the NYCAC. The Flyers improve to 15-6 and 4-1 in the NYCAC.

Senior Jessica Haynes (Tampa, Fla.) led Adelphi with 13 kills to go along with eight digs. Junior Rachael Cornick (Endicott, N.Y.) notched her 11th double-double of the season with 12 kills and 20 digs. Senior Joann Abruzzo (Ridgewood, N.Y.) tallied a team-high 21 digs.

Mariola St. Fleur led Mercy with 21 kills while Monica Herrera added 15 as the Flyers captured their fifth five-set victory in six matches this season.

The Panthers are off this weekend but return to conference action on Tuesday, October 18, hosting NYIT at 7:00 p.m.
