The Adelphi men's soccer team traveled to Fairfield, Connecticut on Tuesday, October 11 to take on Fairfield University, falling 5-0. The Panthers were out shot 17-3 and Fairfield held a 5-0 edge in penalty kicks. With the loss Adelphi falls to 2-9-1 on the season, while Fairfield improves to 5-3-2 overall.
Fairfield broke a 0-0 tie in the 38th minute when Aldo Hope (Trinidad) collected a Kerr McLeod (Saskatoon. Saskatchewan) pass and slipped the ball past Adelphi goalkeeper Michael Hurley (Freeport, N.Y.). Hope broke through again just over a minute later to put the Stags up 2-0 heading into the half.
Fairfield tacked on three more goals in the second half, including a third goal by Hope, to make the final score 5-0. Hurley faced 17 shots and made four saves in the loss, while Andrew Frankel (Warren, Rhode Island) collected one save for Fairfield.
Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, October 15 when they travel to Oneonta, New York to take on Hartwick at 1:00 pm.
