Adelphi scored 11 points in overtime and held Queens to just 39 percent shooting for the game to pull out a 72-69 overtime win at Queens and remain in first place in the NYCAC. With the win Adelphi sits at 13-3 overall and 12-1 in the conference, extending their win streak to eight games, while Queens falls to 12-4 overall and 10-3 in the NYCAC.
The Panthers held Queens to just 31 percent shooting in the first half, building a 33-29 halftime lead. In the second half the Knights came alive, shooting fifty percent from the field to outscore Adelphi 32-38 and force overtime. In the overtime period Adelphi outscored Queens 11-8 to secure the win.
Junior Eric Martin (Laurelton, N.Y.) led Adelphi with 20 points and nine rebounds. Kimani Blaize (Brooklyn, N.Y.) chipped in 17 points five assists and five rebounds, while teammate James Samuels (Uniondale, N.Y.) scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds.
John Sikiric (Maspeth, N.Y.) and Brad Wierzbicki (Maspeth, N.Y.) each scored 16 points, Sikiric added eight boards. Hassan Washington (White Plains, N.Y.) contributed 15 points.
Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday January 26th when they play host to visiting Mercy College at 7:30 pm in Woodruff Hall.
