Men's Soccer Blanked By Stony Brook, 3-0

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's soccer team traveled to Stony Brook this evening, falling by a score of 3-0. The Panthers managed 12 shots in the contest but could not find the back of the net. With the loss Adelphi drops to 2-4 on the season, while the Seawolves improve to 6-1-1.

The Seawolves jumped out to a 1-0 lead 29:44 into the match when Michael Palacio served a ball from the 40 yard line ahead to Chris Megaloudis. Megaloudis then slid a pass to the right and found a charging Anthony Barberio, who one-timed it into the back of the net giving Stony Brook a 1-0 lead.

EJ Xikis kept the Panthers off the board in the first half, turning away three shots. Adelphi's best chance came 23:30 into the match when Tomas Tassara took a pass from about five yards out and one-timed the ball towards the left corner, but Xikis was able to make the stop.

The Seawolves stretched the lead to 2-0 lead in the second half, when Shanniel Headley sprinted up the right side, split the Adelphi defenders and took a shot from 12 yards out that found the upper right corner.

Chris Megaloudis put the match out of reach with just under 10 minutes to play as he took a pass from Michael Palacio and slid a shot around an Adelphi defender from 12 yards out into the back of the net to make the final score 3-0.

Xikis turned away five shots to earn his second consecutive shutout victory in net. Adelphi's Rich Skoblicki made five saves in the loss.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, October 2nd when they play host to visiting Manhattan College at noon on Stiles Field.
