Volleyball Finish Third at the Bentley Classic With a 2-1 Record

Waltham, Mass. - The Adelphi University volleyball team fell to host Bentley College, 3-2, before rebounding for a 3-0 win over St. Michael's in day two of the Bentley Fall Classic. The Panthers improve to 6-8 on the season.

NYIT won the tournament with Bentley finishing second followed by Adelphi in third place.

In their first match of the day, the Panthers suffered a tough loss to the Falcons, 30-28, 30-23, 19-30, 20-30, 7-15. Sophomore Rachael Cornick led Adelphi with 16 kills and 24 digs. Freshman Christina Vandling, named to the all-tournament team, recorded 15 kills and two blocks. Also named to the all-tournament team was sophomore Brittany Addeo who had 56 assists.

In game two, Adelphi took on St. Michael's, winning in 30-15, 30-26, 30-28. Junior Jessica Haynes was the top producer, registering 10 kills along with seven digs. Senior Sharon Ribera had 18 digs and sophomore Kelly Campbell collected a match-high five blocks.

Adelphi returns to conference action on Tuesday, September 28, traveling to Dowling College for a 7:00 p.m. match-up.
