New Haven, CT - The Adelphi University volleyball team defeated host Southern Connecticut State University 30-27, 30-19, 30-18, Tuesday evening at Pelz Gymnasium. The Panthers improve to 4-7 on the season while the Owls remained winless in seven matches.

Junior Jessica Haynes and sophomore Rachael Cornick led the Panthers with eight kills apiece. Senior Sharon Ribera had a team high 15 digs while sophomore Brittany Addeo registered 32 assists, four service aces and six digs.

Senior Chanel Gardiner (Westerly, R.I.) led the Owls with 11 kills while senior Melissa Emmons (Waterbury, Conn.) had 25 digs.

Adelphi returns to action this Friday and Saturday, September 24-25, at the Bentley College Tournament.
