Panthers Struggle At West Florida Tournament

Pensacola, Fla. - The Adelphi University volleyball team dropped to 0-3 to start the season after competing at the CWF Comfort Inn-vitational this weekend in Pensacola, Fla. Game One
In their first contest of the 2004 season, the Panthers fell to SIU-Edwardsville, 30-11, 30-19, 30-21. Adelphi struggled on the service return, accumulating 17 service reception errors. Sophomore Rachael Cornick had five kills, eight digs and four service aces. Freshman Lauren Flanagan had three solo blocks. Game Two
In the second match of the day, Adelphi lost to Lewis University, 30-25, 30-14, 30-20. Cornick again led the squad with eight kills along with 18 digs. Senior Sharon Ribera also posted double digits in digs with 14. Game Three
In their final contest of the tournament, the Panthers suffered a tough defeat at the hands of Northwood (MI), 30-20, 30-19, 30-21. Cornick, along with junior Meaghan Joyce had five kills apiece. The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, September 7, as they host Nyack College in their season home-opener at Woodruff Hall at 7:00 p.m.
