Freshman Lauren Lopez scored the game winner with :17 seconds remaining in regulation to lift number two seeded Adelphi University over top seed C.W. Post, 11-10, in the semifinals of the NCAA Championships this afternoon in Orlando, Florida. The Panthers advance to Saturday's championship game against West Chester University at 12:00 p.m.
This is the first-time ever in five meetings that the Panthers have topped the Pioneers.
"We played well from end to end and every girl played with her heart", said head coach Jill Lessne. "At the half, we knew we had to go in hard and couldn't let up. It was our last chance and we worked together. The outcome was exactly what we put into it."
Junior Katherine Hock led the Panthers with four goals, followed by senior Leigh Fennessey with three goals and one assist.
The Panthers opened a 6-3 first half lead before the Pioneers rallied back to tie the game, 6-6, at the end of the first half. Each team traded goals, with the game tying twice more. Leading 10-9, C.W. Post's Trisha Moran tied the game at 10-10 with 7:41 remaining. Lauren Lopez picked up the foul, setting up a free position goal for the win.
Freshman Allyson Murphy had eight saves for Adelphi. Chrissy Esposito had 13 stops for the Pioneers.

West Chester defeated Limestone, 23-12 in the first semfinal game. This will be the first meeting between Adelphi and West Chester.
