Softball Drops Two At Merrimack; 4-2, 4-3

North Andover, Mass. - The Adelphi softball dropped two straight at Merrimack yesterday afternoon, losing the first game 4-2 and game two 4-3 in eight innings. The Panthers fall to 10-11-1 overalll, while the Warriors improve to 12-8.

Junior outfielder Ivy Klein went 2-for-4 in each game, while Kristina LoCastro added a par of RBIs for Adelphi.

Game One -- Merrimack scored all four of its runs in the first three innings. A double by LoCastro in the third inning closed the gap to 4-2, but the Panthers' rally was stopped there. Lauren Otto allowed one earned run on seven hits and striking out four.

Adelphi had two runs on seven hits and three errors. Merrimack had four runs on five hits and one error.

Game Two -- The Panthers jumped out to an 3-1 lead through the third inning. The Warriors chipped away at the defict, tying the game 3-3 to force the extra inning. Senior catcher Jen Roberge drove in sophomore Stephanie Simon in the bottom of the eighth with a double to give the Warriors the win.

The Panthers had three runs on eight hits and two errors. The Warriors had four runs on seven hits and two errors.

Adelphi continues its non-conference road trip, heading to American International on Friday, April 9. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
