Adelphi Routs Molloy, 12-2

Rockville Center, N.Y. - Adelphi scored five runs in the first two innings of action and held Molloy scoreless until the eighth to pick up their second NYCAC victory of the season, 12-2. With the win the Panthers improve to 11-8 overall and even their conference record at 2-2, Molloy drops to 12-13 on the season and 6-2 in NYCAC play.

Adelphi came out swinging in the first inning, Tom Sicari (Westbury, N.Y.), Matt DeWitt (North Bellmore, N.Y.) and Roger Mischel (Whitestone, N.Y.) all hit doubles and drove in runs to put the Panthers up 3-0 after one. Mike Joyce (Hauppauge, N.Y.) opened the second inning with a homerun to push Adelphi's lead to 4-0. The Panthers tacked on another run to take a 5-0 edge after two innings.

Chris Zinkiewicz (Massapequa, N.Y.) cruised, pitching six and a half innings of scoreless baseball. Zinkiewicz gave up just three hits, while striking out five. Chris Widmer (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Mike Thompson (Bethpage, N.Y.) combined for two and a half innings of two-run relief to give Zinkiewicz the win.

Ricky Nicholson (Massapequa, N.Y.) had a tremendous day at the plate for Adelphi, going 4-6 with five RBI's and a run scored.

Adelphi returns to action on Friday, April 9th when they play host to visiting Philadelphia University at 1:00 pm.
