#5 Adelphi Slips Past Molloy, 9-5

Rockville Center, N.Y. - Adelphi outscored Molloy 6-3 in the second half to come away from Rockville Center with a 9-5 conference win. Bobby Magrin (Fairport, N.Y.) led the way for Adelphi, scoring four points on two goals and two assists in the win. With the victory Adelphi improves to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while Molloy falls to 7-2 on the season and 0-1 in the NYCAC.

Molloy got on the board first, Marcelino Rosales (East Meadow, N.Y.) put the Lions ahead when he scored just 32 seconds into play. Adelphi's Matt Schomburg (Perth, Australia) answered 37 seconds later when he scored an unassisted goal to even the game at one apiece.

Doug Machen (Annapolis, M.D.) kept Adelphi rolling, scoring on an assist from Kim Delfs (Wandi, Australia) to give the Panthers a brief 2-1 lead. Molloy jumped back on top 3-2 on goals from Mike Zabielski (Baldwin, N.Y.) and Nicholas Diaz (East Meadow, N.Y.). Adelphi responded with only goal of the second quarter when Delfs put one past Molloy goalie Joseph Labella (Massapequa, N.Y.) to even the game at three with 8:24 left to play.

Delfs scored again to open the scoring in the second half, breaking the tie with 8:38 to play in the third quarter. Then Schomburg won the ensuing face-off and headed straight for the Molloy goal. Schomburg ripped a shot past Labella to put the Panthers up 5-3, just six seconds after Delfs scored. Timothy Harrington (North Babylon, N.Y.) answered back for Molloy, pulling the Lions to within one, 5-4.

But Adelphi would score four of the next five goals and walk away with a 9-5 win. Labella kept Molloy in the game, making 18 saves, while Brian Volpi (Lawrence, N.Y.) made eight saves in 58 minutes of action and teammate Timothy Kraemer (Hicksville, N.Y.) collected two saves for Adelphi.

The Panthers return to action Saturday, April 10th when they play host to #4 NYIT at 3:00 pm.
