#5 Adelphi Handles C.W. Post, 12-4

Brookville, N.Y. - Fifth ranked Adelphi outscored C.W. Post seven to zero in the second quarter and then cruised to a 12-4 win. The Panthers got two goals and an assist from junior Greg Kalberer (Holbrook, N.Y.) during the decisive run in the second quarter. With the win Adelphi improves to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while C.W. Post falls to 2-8 overall and 2-2 in the NYCAC.

The Panthers came out strong, scoring the first goal of the game just 29 seconds in to play. Adelphi tacked on two more goals before the Pioneers responded with one of their own. Then Adelphi exploded for seven goals in the second quarter, while holding C.W. Post to just two shots and no goals. The Panthers 7-0 run put Adelphi up 10-1 and put the game out of reach.

The Pioneers outscored Adelphi 3-2 in the second half but could not make up the deficit. Kalberer led the way for the Panthers with four goals and two assists, Wes Green (Adelaide, Australia) also had a strong game, scoring three goals and collected two assists.

Brian Volpi (Lawrence, N.Y.) picked up the win for Adelphi, making five saves and allowing just four goals.

Adelphi returns to action Thursday, April 29th when they close out the regular season against conference rival Southampton at 3:30 pm on Stiles Field.
