Box Score
Rockville Center, N.Y. -
Doug Anderson (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) drove in two runs, before scoring what would be the winning run on a wild pitch to help the Panthers to a 7-6 conference win. With the win Adelphi improves to 18-17 overall and 9-7 in the conference, while Molloy falls to 18-21-1 overall and 12-7 in the NYCAC.
Frank Alesia (Valley Stream, N.Y.) cranked a three-run home run in the top of the second inning, driving in Matt DeWitt (North Bellmore, N.Y.) and Adam Kipling (Smithtown, N.Y.), giving Adelphi an early 3-0 lead. But Molloy answered back, scoring three runs of their own to knot the game at three.
Kipling hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth to tie the game at four. Then Anderson put the game out of reach, stroking a double to center field that scored Mike Calabrese (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Roger Mischel (Whitestone, N.Y.). Anderson then scored on a wild pitch to give Adelphi a 7-4 advantage heading in to the bottom of the ninth.
Mike Thompson (Bethpage, N.Y.) pitched the last inning in relief and gave up two earned runs but still collected the save. Mike Myers (Wantagh, N.Y.) pitched six solid innings, allowing only one earned run and striking out three but did not figure in the decision. Andrew Tinucci (Bellmore, N.Y.) collected the win by pitching two innings of scoreless relief.
Adelphi returns to action on April 29th when they play host to visiting rival C.W. Post at 3:00 PM.
