Adelphi's Chris Zinkiewicz (Massapequa, N.Y.) pitched six innings and allowed just four earned runs to help the Panthers top C.W. Post 17-12. The Panthers also closed out the game by scoring nine runs in the last three innings to put the game out of reach. With the win Adelphi improved to 17-17 overall and climbed above .500 in the conference at 7-6, while C.W. Post fell to 15-15-1 overall and 10-9 in the NYCAC.
C.W. Post struck first, scoring a run in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 advantage. But the Panthers scored eight runs over the next four innings, while holding the Pioneers scoreless, jumping out to an 8-1 lead.
Adelphi and C.W. Post both scored seven runs in the eighth inning. Mike Thompson (Bethpage, N.Y.) closed out the game by pitching two and a half innings and allowing just three earned runs to help Adelphi to a 17-12 win.
The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, April 17th when they travel to Molloy for a 3:00 pm conference showdown.
