The Adelphi University Panthers split a New York Collegiate Athletic Conference softball doubleheader with the New Haven Chargers by identical 2-1 scores in West Haven, CT on Sunday afternoon. Adelphi took game two in eight innings.
In game one, UNH's Shannon Reynolds drove in the game-winning run with a single in the bottom of the sixth. Elina Colon, who pitched complete games in both games for New Haven, picked up the win in game one without allowing an earned run. Colon is now 13-6 on the year after winning game one and losing game two.
In game two, Adelphi's Kristina LoCastro drove in the winning run in the top of the eighth after Amy Delmore tied the game with a two out single in the top of the seventh. Shannon Reynolds had two hits for New Haven in game two and drove in UNH's only run.
AU's Carla Buonviaggio (7-6) got the win in game two, and Sheila Feldman took the loss in game one.
With the spilt, Adelphi is now 22-15-1 overall and 18-3-1 in the NYCAC. New Haven is now 20-16 overall and 15-5 in conference play.
