The Panther offense came alive early, scoring three runs in the first, two in the second and third innings and one in the fourth to claim an 8-6 lead heading in to the eighth inning. Dowling's Graig Martinez (Medford, N.Y.) tied the game at eight with a two-run homer run.
Adelphi answered back in the bottom of the eighth when Matt DeWitt (North Bellmore, N.Y.) slammed a double with two outs, that scored Tom Sicari (Westbury, N.Y.) all the way from first, giving the Panthers a 9-8 lead. Dowling tied the game in the top of the ninth on a sacrifice fly. Adelphi could not take advantage of a bases loaded situation in the bottom of the ninth and the game moved to extra innings.
In the top of the tenth Dowling led off with a base hit and moved the runner over with a sac bunt. The Lions scored the winning run on a single up the middle.
Adelphi returns to action Thursday, April 22nd when they travel to Teikyo Post for a non-conference doubleheader.
