No. 2 Women's Lacrosse Defeats Assumption, 22-4

Garden City, N.Y. - Junior Katherine Hock recorded all of her five goals and two assists in the first half as No. 2 ranked Adelphi University defeated Assumption College, 22-4, on Monday afternoon at Stiles Field. The Panthers improve to 9-0 on the season while the Greyhounds drop to 3-7.

Adelphi exploded in the first half, outscoring Assumption, 17-2. Freshman Diana Lopez tallied the first goal just 13 seconds into the contest. She accounted for three of the first four Panthers goals, scoring a total of four in the game. Assumption connected for back-to-back goals at 19:02 and 18:22 to bring the score to 5-2. Freshman Lauren Lopez also had three first half goals and senior Karen Sulinski contributed four assists as the Panthers finished the half on a 12-0 run.

Second half leaders included sophomore Jayna Kyriacou and freshman Lauren Giordano who each had a career-high two goals. Assumption's Jenny Mongeau collected two of her team high three goals in the half.

Adelphi's offense dominated with a 33-12 advantage on shots. Freshman goalie Allyson Murphy had five saves for the Panthers while junior Marjorie Schepp made six stops for the Greyhounds.

The Panthers hit the road for two away contests, beginning with a rematch against New Haven on Thursday, April 22, followed by a trip to Bentley College on Sunday, April 25.
