Women's Lacrosse Holds Off Philadelphia, 10-6

Philadelphia, PA - The Adelphi University women's lacrosse team extended its win streak to eight after defeating Philadelphia University, 10-6, on Saturday afternoon. Freshmen Diana and Lauren Lopez each recorded two goals in the win. The Rams drop to 6-6 on the season.

Lauren Lopez opened the scoring in the second minute to give Adelphi a 1-0 lead. PhilaU responded with two unanswered goals at 7:00 and 7:45 into the game. The Panthers rallied with five unanswered goals to take a 6-2 lead into intermission.

Stacey Haldemen notched two of her three goals in the opening minutes of the second half as the Rams went on a 3-0 run. Diana Lopez scored her second goal on an assist from Lauren Lopez at 42:42. Senior Karen Sulinski followed with her second goal of the day on an unassisted goal in the 43rd minute to put the Panthers up 8-5. Adelphi outscored Philadelphia 2-1 in the final minutes to hold on for the win.

Freshman goalie Allyson Murphy had a career high 13 saves for Adelphi. Phildelphia's Jill Martin also had 13 saves.

The Panthers return to action on Monday, April 19, hosting Assumption College at 4:00 p.m.
