Garden City, N.Y. - The Panthers scored four runs in the first and that was all they would need as Roger Mischel (Whitestone, N.Y.) pitched eight innings, striking out six and allowing just six hits in the win. With the win Adelphi improves to 14-12 overall and 5-5 in conference play, while Bridgeport falls to 7-12 overall and 4-9 in the NYCAC.

Ricky Nicholson (Massapequa, N.Y.) started things off in the first with a single. Tom Sicari (Westbury, N.Y.) was hit by a pitch and then Erik Pelkaus (Bethpage, N.Y.) walked to load the bases. Casey Twibell (Carle Place, N.Y.) drew a walk, scoring Nicholson and giving Adelphi a 1-0 lead.

Nick Testani (Williston Park, N.Y.) singled, scoring another run to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead. Michael Joyce (Hauppauge, N.Y.) also singled, scoring Adelphi's third run of the inning. The final run of the inning was scored when Bridgeport's pitcher balked, scoring Twibell and putting the Panthers up 4-0.

Adelphi tacked on a run in the bottom of the eighth to make the score 5-0. Mischel picked up the win and teammate Brian Neal (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) pitched a scoreless ninth inning to collect the save.

Joyce had a solid day at the plate for Adelphi, going 2-4 with an RBI. Nicholson also had a strong day, going 2-3 with a run scored and two walks.

The Panthers return to action Sunday, April 18th when they travel to St. Thomas Aquinas for a noon start.
