Adelphi allowed just four runs over nine innings, but could not produce any offense, falling to Concordia 4-3. The Panthers threatened on several occasions late but the Clippers stopped Adelphi's rallies short. With the loss the Panthers fall to 13-12 overall and 4-5 in the conference, while Concordia improves to 13-19 overall and 6-6 in the NYCAC.
The Clippers got on the board first, scoring in the top of the third. But Adelphi would answer in the bottom of the fourth by scoring two runs to take a 2-1 lead. Roger Mischel (Whitestone, N.Y.) drove in both Panther runs in the fourth. Concordia answered back with a two-run fifth to jump ahead 3-2.
Adelphi knotted the game at three in the bottom of the fifth when Tom Sicari (Westbury, N.Y.) singled, scoring Thomas Cali (Shirley, N.Y.). But the Clippers would take the lead for good when they scored a run in the top of the sixth to go ahead 4-3. Adelphi rallied in the eighth and had a man on third, but could not drive in a run to tie the game.
Adelphi returns to action Friday, April 16th when they play host to visiting Bridgeport at 3:00 pm.
