#2 Adelphi Dominates New Haven, 20-2

Garden City, N.Y. - Katherine Hock (Mineola, N.Y.) scored three of Adelphi's first five goals to help the second ranked Panthers cruise to a 20-2 win over New Haven. The victory extends Adelphi's win streak to seven games, while New Haven falls to 5-2 with the loss.

The game opened slowly with both teams feeling each other out, but just over eight minutes in Hock scored her first goal on a free position shot. Minutes later Lauren Lopez (Farmingville, N.Y.) scored to put the Panthers ahead 2-0. Adelphi would score three more goals before New Haven got on the board.

Then the flood gates opened as the Panthers added eight more tallies to go in to halftime with an insurmountable 13-2 lead. Adelphi tacked on seven more goals in the second half, while holding New Haven scoreless, to come away with a 20-2 win.

Hock led the way for Adelphi with five goals and four assists. With nine points, she broke her own record for points in a game. The previous record of eight points was set April, 19, 2003 against Philadelphia University.

Lauren and Diana Lopez (Farmingville, N.Y.) chipped in three goals apiece, as did teammate Catherine Perez Lyndhurst, N.J.).

Allyson Murphy (Williston Park, N.Y.) had a solid game in net for Adelphi, making nine saves. Heather Gebhardt (East Rochester, N.Y.) collected eight saves in just under 40 minutes of work, teammate Kelly Stratton (West Haven, C.T.) picked up four saves in relief.

The Panthers return to action Saturday, April 17th when they travel to Philadelphia for a 1:00 pm match-up.
