Adelphi Closes Southern Swing With a Win

Homestead, FL - The Panthers improved to 4-3 overall after topping Mercyhurst for a second time yesterday. Michael Myers hit a single up the middle in the bottom of the ninth to give Adelphi their fourth win.

Roger Mischel pitched six strong innings for Adelphi, giving up just two unearned runs. Mischel left the game with the score 2-1 in favor of Mercyhurst. In the bottom of the eighth captain Casey Twibell tied the game at two with a base hit, the Panthers then took advantage of a pass ball to go ahead 3-2.

Mercyhurst rallied in the top of the ninth when Chris Widmer gave up a base hit and gave Mercyhurst a 4-3 lead. But the Panthers were not through, in the bottom of the ninth and the bases loaded Adelphi got a break. A pass ball allowed the Panthers to tie the game at four, then Myers hit a hard single up the middle to give Adelphi a 5-4 win.

"We went to Florida to see our kids compete," said Scala. "And we as a coaching staff feel very confident in all our players."
