Adelphi Rallies Late But Falls Short Against Dowling

Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi scored six runs in the sixth and seventh innings combined but it was not enough as Dowling topped the Panthers 13-8. With the loss Adelphi drops to 7-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play, while Dowling improves to 7-8 overall and stays unbeaten in the NYCAC at 3-0.

Neither team could find their offense early and played to a scoreless tie after two innings. But Dowling exploded in the third, scoring seven runs in the third and adding two more in the fourth.

Adelphi held Dowling to just four runs in the last four innings of action and mounted a rally of their own to get back in the game. The Panthers scored four runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh to pull to within 12-8, but were retired one, two, three in both the eighth and ninth innings.

Adelphi returns to action Thursday, March 24th when they play host to SUNY - Old Westbury at 3:00 pm.
