Adelphi got six points from senior Jesse Sorensen (Baldwin, N.Y.) but it was not enough to help Adelphi overcome 12 Dolphin goals scored in the first and third quarters combined. With the 17-8 non-conference loss Adelphi falls to 0-2 overall while Le Moyne improves to 1-0 with the win.
Senior Corey Sullivan (LaFayette, N.Y./LaFayette)
scored two goals and sophomore Craig Rosencrans (Niskayuna,
N.Y./Niskayuna) added one as Le Moyne jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the
first seven minutes and 21 seconds. Adelphi battled back with a pair of
goals. The Dolphins closed out the opening quarter with three more goals
to take a 6-2 edge.
Doug Machen (Annapolis, Md./Hofstra) and Kim Delfs
(Wandi, Australia/Lakeland) each scored as Adelphi outscored the
Dolphins 2-1 in the second quarter. Ryan Lewis (Minoa, N.Y.) scored Le Moyne's only goal of
the second stanza as the Dolphins took a 7-4 lead into the intermission.
Lewis' goal was the first of seven consecutive Le Moyne goals. Kyle Reichel (East Syracuse, N.Y.)
scored the first two goals of the second half, senior Rob Trowbridge
(Pierrepont Manor, N.Y./South Jefferson) added one, Brandon Spillett (Liverpool, N.Y.) scored a
man-advantage goal, Bob Tulowiecki (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park)
netted his second goal of the game and Lewis delivered the Dolphins a
13-4 lead with 5:07 left in the third.
Sorensen led Adelphi with six points on three goals
and three assists. Junior Gregory Kalberer (Holbrook, N.Y.) also had a strong game, scoring two goals and handing out one assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jared Corcoran (Concord,
N.H./Concord) stopped 12 shots in his collegiate debut, while Adelphi's
Brian Volpi (Lawrence, N.Y./Nassau CC) and Justin White (Setauket,
N.Y./SUNY Oneonta) combined for eight saves.
Adelphi returns to action Saturday, March 20th when they travel to Smithfield, Rhode Island to take on Bryant College at 1:00 pm.
