The Panthers held Concordia to just 35 percent shooting in the first half, while shooting 54 percent themselves to out last Concordia 79-43. With the win Adelphi improves to 6-3 overall and 5-1 in the NYCAC, while Concordia is still searching for their first win of the season at 0-7 overall and 0-6 in the conference.
The Panthers came out gunning, opening the game with a 14-0 run. Sophomore Kimani Blaize (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored six points during the run on two three-pointers. Adelphi held Concordia scoreless for the first 5:46 of the first half, when Brian Antonelli (Staten Island, N.Y.) converted lay-up to get the Clippers on the board, 14-2.
Adelphi kept the defensive pressure up and closed the half with a 21-4 run that lasted the last 10 minutes of play. The Panthers entered the locker room with a 41-14 advantage.
In the second half the Clippers found their offense, scoring 29 points, but it was not enough as the Panthers put up 38 more points in the second half to earn a 79-43 victory.
Antonelli led the Clippers with a team-high 13 points, he also grabbed five boards. Jonathan Duperon (Philadelphia, PA) was the only other Clipper in double-figures with 12, nine of which came in the second half.
Blaize led all scorer with a career-high 23 points, including hitting on a career best six of eight from behind the arc. Fellow Brooklyn native Samuel Jenkins also had a strong game in his first career start, scoring a career-high 15 points and a career-high eight rebounds. James Samuels (Uniondale, N.Y.) was the only other Panther in double-figures with 15 points.
Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, January 5th when they travel to Sparkill, New York to take on conference foe St. Thomas Aquinas at 8:00 pm.
