Panthers Halt the Chargers, 75-66

West Haven, CT - The Adelphi University Panthers held the University of New Haven Chargers to only one point in the game's final 3:22, as they rebounded from an eight-point halftime deficit to post a 75-66 New York Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball win in West Haven, CT on Tuesday night.

With the win, AU remains undefeated at 7-0 overall and 6-0 in NYCAC play. UNH suffers its fifth straight loss, as the Chargers are now 2-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play.

Senior Melanie Mangone (Middle Village, N.Y.) led Adelphi with 21 points along with seven rebounds. She was joined in double figures by senior Meranne Whitney (Nashua, N.H.) with 19 points, five assists and four steals. Freshman Gianna Smith (Hempstead, N.Y.) recorded 15 points.

Amanda Freeman led New Haven with 16 points, and she also had nine rebounds. Tristan Jackson had a double-double for the Chargers with 13 points and 13 rebounds, and Adelina Gentry rounded out the UNH double-figure scorers, as she also had 13 points.

The Panthers take a break for Christmas before traveling to Miami Shores, Fla. for the Barry University Invitational, December 29-30.
