Women's Soccer Downs Molloy, 7-0

Garden City, N.Y. - A total of six different players scored as the Adelphi University women's soccer team defeated Molloy College, 7-0, in conference action this Saturday afternoon at Stiles Field. The Panthers improve to 14-3 overall and 8-2 in the NYCAC while the Lions drop to 5-13-2 and 3-7-1 in league play.

Sophomore Lea Brady scored the twice to open the scoring in the first half. Seniors Josephine Coiro, Josefa Pace and sophomore Tara Grodotzke each chipped goals to give the Panthers a 5-0 lead at intermission.

In the second half, sophomore Lauren Lopez scored on an assist from Pace in the 52nd minute. Freshman Denise Auer, who had assisted on Brady's first goal, closed out the scoring on an unassisted goal in the 61st minute.

Freshman goalie Christine Conway and senior Heather Munzer shared the shutout with Conway making three stops. Junior Melissa McCarthy and sophomore Caitlin McGinn had five saves and two saves, respectively, for Molloy.

Prior to the start of the today's game, the team honored the graduating class of 2005 consisting of Dina Cali, Coiro, Rachel McDermott, Jessica Montgomery, Munzer, Pace, Jaime Parella and Jessica Piccolo.

Adelphi returns to action on Monday, November 1, hosting Concordia College at 3:00 p.m. This is a make-up originally scheduled back in September that was postponed due to inclement weather.
