Women's Soccer Rolls Past St. Thomas Aquinas, 8-1

Sparkill, N.Y. - Six different players scored for the Panthers as the Adelphi women's soccer team topped host St. Thomas Aquinas, 8-1, in conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers improve to 8-1 and 5-0 in the NYCAC.

Junior Shannon McEntee and sophomore Lauren Lopez each scored twice in the win.

McEntee got the Panthers on board in the 19th minue on an assist from senior Josephine Coiro. The Lady Spartans rallied to tie the game at 27:43. Sophomore Tara Grodotzke scored what would prove to be the game-winner in the 34th minute off a corner kick by sophomore Diana Lopez.

The second half was all Adelphi as they out shot STAC 12-4 in the second half. Coiro picked up a goal off a corner kick at 52:13. L. Lopez collected both of her goals in the second half and senior Jessica Montgomery notched her first career goal in the 86th minute as the Panthers coasted to victory.

Freshman Christine Conway had three saves while Amber Rodriguez collected 12 saves for STAC.

Adelphi returns to conference action on Tuesday, October 5, hosting The University of Bridgeport at 4:00 p.m.
