Adelphi forced 30 turnovers and scored 41 points in the first half on their way to a 68-51 win. The Panthers improved to 6-5 overall and evened their NYCAC record at 4-4 with the win, while Dowling dropped to 2-10 overall and fell to 1-8 in NYCAC play.
Adelphi held Dowling to just five points in the first 13 minutes of action, while scoring 28 points to take a 28-5 with 7:03 to play in the first half. The Golden Lions went on a small run to end the first half and pulled to within 14, 41-27 at halftime.
The game saw a combined 52 turnovers, 28 of which were committed during a sloppy second half. But Adelphi held Dowling to just 24 points in the second half and scored 27 points of their own to come away with a 68-51 win.
Dwayne Thompson (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) paced Adelphi with 15 points and teammate Thomas McCormack (Breezy Point, N.Y.) chipped in with 11 points and a team-high six rebounds and five assists. Michael Session (Brentwood, N.Y.) led all scorers with 16 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. Wayne Holt (Spring Valley, N.Y.) and Keith Willis (Brooklyn, N.Y.) both scored 11 points for Dowling.
The Panthers return to action Saturday, January 17th when they travel to Bronxville, New York to for a NYCAC match-up with Concordia College 3:30 pm.
