Adelphi Women Top Bloomsburg, 3-1

Garden City, N.Y. - Three different players scored for the Panthers as the No. 8 Adelphi women's soccer team defeated Bloomsburg University, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at Stiles Field. With its fourth straight win, Adelphi improves to 4-1-1 on the season. The Huskies fall to 1-6 overall.

The Panthers took an early 1-0 lead on a 25-yard chip by senior Monica Miller (Albuquerque, NM)which sailed over Bloomsburg goalie Renee Weller. Senior Luciana Pace (Bellmore, N.Y.) notched her second goal of the season on an unassisted shot in the 42nd minute to give Adelphi a 2-0 lead going into intermission.

Adelphi continued to hold the advantage in the second half, outshooting Bloomsburg 20-13 on the game. Junior Josephine Coiro (West Babylon, N.Y.) notched the final Panther goal of the day on an assist from Marissa Cotilletta (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) at 65:12. Less than thirty seconds later, Bloomsburg picked up its only goal of the afternoon as Amanda McLaughlin scored on an assist by Jill Huffman.

Senior Andrea Fasano (Syossett, N.Y.) had seven stops in goal for Adelphi. Bloomsburg's Renee Weller had eight saves.

Adelphi is back in action Saturday, September 27, hosting Lock Haven University at 1:00 p.m.
