Senior Luciana Pace (Bellmore, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season in the 20th minute to give Adelphi the lead en route to a 3-1 conference win over the Molloy College Lady Lions. Adelphi extends its win streak to three games, improving to 3-1-1 overall and 1-0 in the NYCAC. The Lady Lions drop to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the NYCAC.
The No.8 Panthers dominated throughout, outshooting Molloy 20-7 and holding a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior Josephine Coiro (West Babylon, N.Y.) opened the scoring in the fourth minute to give Adelphi a 1-0 lead. Less than ten minutes later, Molloy's Kristin Johnson tied up the game on a penalty kick.
The Panthers held a 2-1 lead going into the second half, when Pace followed up with an assist to senior Lena Dunning (Albuquerque, N.M.) in the 63rd minute.
Senior Andrea Fasano (Syosett, N.Y.) had one save for Adelphi. Nicole Ryan, Janet Powell and Lisa Williams combined for six stops for Molloy.
Adelphi returns to action this Sunday, September 21, hosting Bloomsburg University in a non-conference match-up. Scheduled kick off time is 1:00 p.m.
