Sophomore Katherine Hock scored four goals and three other Panthers scored a pair as #8 Adelphi defeated Bentley College, 11-2, on rain-soaked Stiles Field this Saturday afternoon. Adelphi improves to 9-1 overall and the Falcons fall to 8-3.
Hock scored three of her game-high four goals in the first half of play staking the Panthers to a 6-1 half time lead. Bentley's Stephanie Droney scored the lone goal in the first stanza.
The second frame followed the first with Hock scoring once, and freshman Dawn Anselmin, senior Catherine Perez, and junior Leigh Fennessey each had a pair of goals in the victory. Ashley Coombes scored the second goal for Bentley.
Sophomore Josephine Coiro made 14 saves on 23 Falcon shots, while Bentley goalie Monica Rose had 17 saves on 33 Panther shots.
Today's contest marked the final home game of the regular season and the Panthers took a few moments before the start of the game to honor graduating seniors Perez and Christie Ruppert.
Adelphi has the week off as it rests up for its final game against #1 ranked C.W. Post next Saturday at 12:00 p.m. A win for the Panthers over the Pioneers could solidify a post-season slot in the NCAA Tournament.
