Men's Lacrosse Tops Molloy, 15-7

Garden City, N.Y. - Junior Kim Delfs rattled off four goals along with one assist to lead the #6 ranked Adelphi men's lacrosse team to a 15-7 conference win over Molloy College at Stiles Field. The Panthers extend their win streak to four, improving to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the NYCAC. The Lions drop their third straight, falling to 1-4, 0-2 in the NYCAC.

Freshman Wesley Green notched the first of two goals in the opening minute of the game, spurring a 3-0 Panther run. Brian Himberger gave Molloy its first goal on an assist by Dan Melody at 9:55. Green collected his second goal on an assist from senior Tyler Heavenor. Heavenor, who dished out five assists in the game, followed up with a toss to freshman Mike Bartolillo as Adelphi led, 5-1, at the end of the first quarter.

After a second quarter opening goal by Heavenor, Delfs collected back-to-back goals as Adelphi's opened its lead to 8-1. Molly's Dan Melody scored on an assist by Chris McAuley to close the quarter, 8-2.

McAuley scored his only goal of the day 13:06 into the third quarter. Delfs scored two of the next five unanswered goals as the Panthers pulled away, 13-3. The Lions rallied back with Tim Stevens scoring the last goal of the third quarter and the first in the fourth.

Joel Bates capped a 4-0 Molloy run, with two goals in the fourth to close the gap, 13-7 with 8:04 remaining. Senior David Toy collected his third goal of the day on an assist by junior Matt Schomburg at 3:49. Schomburg, who also had three goals in the contest, sealed the Adelphi victory with an unassisted goal with 1:23 on the clock.

Senior Mark Miller had 11 stops for Adelphi, while James D'Ambrosio had 10 saves for Molloy.

Adelphi is back in action this Saturday, April 19, with a key conference match-up at NYIT at 1:00 p.m.
